Designated donations
once per year

This ensures that distribution on arrival is organized, fair, and traceable.

Designated donations are voluntary annual contributions made by sponsors of children supported through Signpost for Africa.

Procedure

  • List Preparation
Before each trip to Rwanda, Signpost for Africa prepares a detailed donation list, assigning specific items to each sponsored child’s family.

  • School Coordination
The list is sent in advance to school principals to ensure clarity and readiness.

  • On-Site Verification
Upon arrival, the distribution is carried out according to the pre-approved list to guarantee fairness and full transparency.

  • Parental Collection
Parents of sponsored children are invited to the school to personally collect the donated items — both because of the physical bulk and to help prevent theft.

What’s provided and why:

These donations are used to provide families with essential supplies. All collected items are distributed directly to the families of sponsored children.

  • Goats
The only source of meat for many families, reserved for major life events. Milk is used for infants or the sick.
  • Spoons
Safer and more hygienic than eating by hand.
  • Soap
Used for basic hygiene and washing clothes — essential in preventing infections.
  • Mattresses
A rare item in most homes. For many children, this is their first time sleeping off the bare ground.
